About Wallabyup

Why (short): Some don't like attention usury (what Gogle, Facebook, etc. use). Attention usury is when our attention and thoughts are bombarded by targeted excessive ads (similar to financial usury and pay-day loans). Why (long): Wallabyup (under different names) started as an offline search engine and a mapping website using OpenStreetMap data. It was offline on my home PC so I could distance myself from certain subversive elements of the internet. Search autonomy can give searchers more control and discover websites buried on the 50th page of other search engines. Motto: Don't lose good in the algorithm (Freedom, Order, Direction). Why "Wallabyup"? Wallabies are small enough to box and karate kick but not big enough to be hunted for their meat. "Up" is an action word usually associated with moving to a higher plateau (spatially or religiously).

Privacy / Text-based Search Engine Logging / No Finger Printing

Regarding searches typed into the search engine... your data is not sold or shared. I (Daniel) am the only one that can view it. No JavaScript tracking or JS fingerprinting or cookies are used by Wallabyup however 4 things including; your ISP, referrer (which site you can from), IP* address, and browser "user-agent" (what browser you use) is recorded. * IP logging is still fairly private as 99% of IP addresses used by the general public are used as a group where the same IP is shared with multiple other computers (unless you specifically request a static IP and pay extra per month with your ISP).
