How To Help Wallabyup
1) Bookmark Wallabyup.
Tip: if your search is not successful you can use the Wal pre-formatted link to Duck/Bing/Google.
When I 1st hear about a website I sometimes forget about it then relearn about it a month later. For some reason ads and word-of-mouth has to happen a dozen times before I bookmark the site and start using the service. Years ago I only become a regular DuckDuckGo and Bing/OpenStreetMaps/Six Maps user when I added their sites to my bookmarks toolbar.
Wallabyup doesn't like ads so the quicker people bookmark the more widely society will benefit.
2) Link to your favourite sites.
Wallabyup finds websites in it's index by following links from sites currently in it's index. The problem is that directories and website owners sometimes use a "nofollow" tag which tells the WallabyupBot not to follow the link. By linking to a website you can help the WallabyupBot index the site in it's database.
Also by linking to your favourite sites, or even just simply linking to a website you know is legit, you provide "social weighting" for that site which helps give a minor ranking boost above dodgy sites.
3) Link to Wallabyup.
If you like Wallabyup then please mention it online. If you mention "alternative to Google" or similar in your post then hopefully Wallabyup will be found in Bing, DuckDuckGo, or Google.
4) Contact Wal for ways to improve.
I'm lacking in some skills in the sense that I am a mavin but need help from people who are connectors and marketers.
As a mavin I have done websites for dog rescue groups, bitcoin exchanges, redheads, electric vehicles, etc. and now I am doing Australian websites (Wallabyup).
As a mavin I'm good at providing a themed comparison or list but I am not a social butterfly like a connector who has relationships with dozens of people or a marketer who "gets" how something works and knows how to sell it to the masses.
5) Contact Wal to report bugs.
Not many people take the time to report something broken so when someone does then I know that one person probably represents many and I should take them seriously.
6) Improve SEO (Search Engine Optimisation).
Most websites are poorly coded meaning when you come across a result in Wal that you think should be a higher rank, it's probably because the website doesn't mention their business name or what they do in their page title or early heading. If you're a Sushi restaurant then your page title should be something like;
"Fuji Japanese Restaurant - Sushi In Camden"
This way it will rank for both "Japanese restaurant" and also "sushi" and also if someone is searching the business name and suburb "Fuji Camden" looking for opening times or a menu.
